{"id":106035,"date":"2025-04-03T13:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-04-03T02:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/lismoretimes\/?p=106035"},"modified":"2025-04-02T17:58:30","modified_gmt":"2025-04-02T06:58:30","slug":"champions-crowned-at-para-surfing-titles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/lismoretimes\/news\/champions-crowned-at-para-surfing-titles\/","title":{"rendered":"Champions crowned at Para Surfing Titles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>AUSTRALIA&#8217;S top adaptive surfers battled it out in Byron Bay last week, with 12 national champions crowned at the Australian Para Surfing Titles.<\/p>\n<p>Athletes delivered elite performances in small conditions at Front Beach, in an event that showcased skill, determination and rising competition levels.<\/p>\n<p>The PS-Prone 2 men&#8217;s final was strongly contested with four New South Welshmen battling for the title.<\/p>\n<p>In the end, it was Lee Ferrier who emerged victorious and earned a spot on Team Australia for the ISA World Para Surfing Championship.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2025\/04\/DSC02704_95776.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"801\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Australia&#8217;s top adaptive surfers delivered fantastic performances in the water.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It feels amazing to have qualified to represent Team Australia at the ISA Worlds! I don&#8217;t know what to say \u2014 it&#8217;s such a great honour,&#8221; Ferrier said.<\/p>\n<p>Four-time world para surfing champion Sam Bloom took home another victory in the PS-Prone 1 women&#8217;s final. Bloom was at her best during the heat, putting up a strong competitive total to oust her fellow competitor Grace Kennedy (New South Wales).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This was the biggest Aussie Titles competition we&#8217;ve ever had. There were so many newbies here, it&#8217;s super unreal!&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2025\/04\/samMono_95822.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"749\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sam Bloom in action. Photos: SUPPLIED<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Five-time World Adaptive Surfing Champion Jocelyn Neumueller delivered a strong performance in the PS-Prone 2 women&#8217;s final, securing the win over fellow South Australian Annie Goldsmith.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In general, the level of surfing is rising from contest to contest, year to year. It&#8217;s so good to see Australia at the forefront, pushing the level of surfing.
