LISMORE\u2019S beloved cinema will reopen under new ownership, with a multimillion-dollar upgrade and plans to welcome moviegoers back by December.<\/p>\n

The proposed state-of-the-art venue will undergo a multimillion-dollar renovation focused on warmth, accessibility and community connection.<\/p>\n

It will feature superior seating, cutting-edge projection and sound systems, and new food and drink offerings.<\/p>\n

The new Lismore Cinemas owner, Luke Mackey, is an experienced operator of 30 years and is passionate about delivering a world-class experience.<\/p>\n

“Regional cinemas are more than just entertainment – they’re where stories are shared, friendships grow, memories are made, and, importantly, where communities come together,” Mackey said.<\/p>\n

“We’re proud to bring back a cultural cornerstone for Lismore and deliver an experience the whole region can be proud of.”<\/p>\n

Community leaders have welcomed the project.<\/p>\n

Lismore Mayor Steve Krieg said it was a powerful sign of the city’s strength and renewal.<\/p>\n

“It’s a much-loved venue that will once again serve as a meeting point for friends and families,” Cr Krieg said.<\/p>\n

“Supporting local jobs and lifting local spirits – this is exactly what Lismore needs.”<\/p>\n

State Member for Lismore, Janelle Saffin, said it was terrific news.<\/p>\n

“A cinema is much more than screens and seats\u2014it’s a place of joy, escape, and connection,” Saffin said.<\/p>\n

“I commend this investment in our community, and I look forward to seeing the doors open again soon.”<\/p>\n

The new ownership is committed to reopening the business as quickly as possible in time for the December release of Avatar: Fire and Ash<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The owners have said they are dedicated to employing locals across all operations and developing a new generation of industry leaders through training and mentorship.<\/p>\n

“We’re building something special, but it’s nothing without the community,” Mackey said.<\/p>\n

“Every ticket bought, every story shared, every smiling face through the doors all helps rebuild this cherished part of Lismore.”<\/p>\n
