A convoy of iconic kombi vans also delighted spectators on Saturday.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2025\/05\/LocalidentityPinkyat_23567.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"812\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Pinky showing off his tie-die outfit at Nimbin Mardigrass.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Festivalgoers browsed market stalls offering hemp clothing and products, while panels of cannabis experts delved into the medical, scientific and political issues surrounding cannabis and other medicinal plants. Topics ranged from botanical research and mushroom cultivation to harm reduction strategies and the growing mainstream interest in psychedelic therapy.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2025\/05\/FestivalgoersatNimbi_27453.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"593\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Festivalgoers at Nimbin Mardigrass. Photos: ANGELA SAURINE<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Volunteers from local organisation Jungle Patrol played a key role in keeping the festival safe and running smoothly, helping with tasks such as first aid and traffic management.<\/p>\n<p>Nimbin MardiGrass president Michael Balderstone said he was pleased with how the weekend unfolded.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2025\/05\/VisitorsfromWesternA_29511.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"465\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Visitors from Western Australia at Nimbin Mardigrass.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Like the farmers we&#8217;re quite dependant on the weather and it was really kind to us,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was a terrific crowd with absolutely minimal problems, and I appreciate the police gave us room to move and they were pretty cool. Photo: ANGELA SAURINE<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Once a small dairy town, Nimbin became a haven for alternative lifestyles after hosting the Aquarius Festival, which celebrated sustainable and alternative lifestyles, in 1973.
