{"id":106894,"date":"2025-05-11T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-05-10T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/lismoretimes\/?p=106894"},"modified":"2025-05-07T19:31:02","modified_gmt":"2025-05-07T09:31:02","slug":"work-begins-on-tumbulgum-and-condong-school-rebuilds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/lismoretimes\/news\/work-begins-on-tumbulgum-and-condong-school-rebuilds\/","title":{"rendered":"Work begins on Tumbulgum and Condong school rebuilds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>WORK is underway to rebuild Tumbulgum and Condong public schools, with students expected to return to permanent classrooms later this year after three years in temporary facilities following the 2022 floods.<\/p>\n<p>Minister for Disaster Recovery and the North Coast Janelle Saffin said the rebuild marked a fresh start for the school communities.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The new schools will ensure that students have access to a safe, modern, and inspiring place in which to learn,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Students, teachers and support staff, parents and caregivers, can look forward to their new schools coming to life and to the many academic, artistic and sporting achievements that will unfold.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The renewed campuses will include new classrooms, libraries, administration spaces, canteens and landscaped outdoor areas.<\/p>\n<p>At Tumbulgum, the old school bell will be restored, and heritage materials reused in the rebuild.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2025\/05\/TUMBULGUMPUBLICSCHOO_47730.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">NSW Minister for Recovery and the North Coast Janelle Saffin marks the start of rebuilding Tumbulgum Public School with, from left, Tweed Shire Deputy Mayor Cr Meredith Dennis OAM, School Leaders Shyanne and Pippah, and Principal Genevieve Esgate.
