COMEDIAN Lawrence Mooney is bringing his new stand-up show Dead Set Country to Byron Bay this October, sharing stories of city life gone bush, complete with horses, dead wombats and a tractor romance.<\/p>\n

Mooney will perform at the Byron Community Centre and Byron Theatre on October 25.<\/p>\n

Dead Set Country is an hour of new material about a city boy gone bush.<\/p>\n

“Roughed up by locals, mourning dead wombats, talking with horses and having an abiding affair with a tractor, Mooney is ‘Dead Set Country.'”<\/p>\n

Lawrence Mooney is an acclaimed stand-up comedian of over thirty years. He has toured all over the country with his best mates in the hit show The Comedians and is a regular on TV shows like The Front Bar, The Back Page, Have You Been Paying Attention, The Project and more.<\/p>\n

“The country in Australia is used as a stamp of approval, if something has country in front of it, it usually means it’s good and trustworthy,” Mooney said.<\/p>\n

“We moved to the country, and moved onto land because my daughter wanted to start riding horses. This came with some big learning curves in my middle age.”<\/p>\n

“There’ll be horses, drinking in the country, and things we don’t have like activewear, which I don’t think is a bad thing. But men do wear bike shorts, and that is a mess.”<\/p>\n

“This show has been very well reviewed, and people are saying it’s my strongest work in a while, so I’ll back myself there,” he added.<\/p>\n

“You can guarantee you’ll get a bit of highbrow, a good dose of low brow and some middle brow.”<\/p>\n

The show is recommended for audiences aged 15+, with strong language advised.<\/p>\n
