{"id":108703,"date":"2025-07-24T13:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-07-24T03:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/lismoretimes\/?p=108703"},"modified":"2025-07-24T16:04:10","modified_gmt":"2025-07-24T06:04:10","slug":"cheaper-home-battery-program-now-available-for-households","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/lismoretimes\/news\/cheaper-home-battery-program-now-available-for-households\/","title":{"rendered":"Cheaper home battery program now available for households"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NORTH Coast households and small businesses can access 30 per cent discounts on home battery systems through a new federal program.<\/p>\n<p>The $2.3 billion Cheaper Home Battery Program, which began on July 1, aims to cut the cost of a typical installed battery by 30 per cent, with more than one million new batteries expected to be installed nationally by 2030.<\/p>\n<p>The subsidies are available to households, small businesses and community facilities, with support for batteries sized up to 100 kWh.<\/p>\n<p>Member for Richmond Justine Elliot said the program is aimed at reducing energy bills while supporting the shift to cleaner power.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;North Coast households with existing rooftop solar could save up to $1,100 a year on power, and a household installing a new solar and battery system could save up to $2,300 a year \u2013 up to 90 per cent of a typical family electricity bill,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>Households can expect to save about $4,000 on the cost of a typical battery installation through the discount.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dcceew.gov.au\/\">Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water website<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NORTH Coast households and small businesses can access 30 per cent discounts on home battery systems through a new federal program.
