NORTH Coast community groups will share more than $66,000 from the latest round of Volunteer Grants.<\/p>\n
Local MP Justine Elliot said the one-off payments of between $1,000 and $5,000 would help 28 organisations support their volunteers.<\/p>\n
The funding can be used for items such as radio equipment for Surf Life Saving Clubs, sporting gear to train junior teams and, for the first time this year, insurance premiums.<\/p>\n
“This funding shows that we are supporting our local volunteers to continue their important work in our community,” Elliot said.<\/p>\n
“Volunteers play a vital role in many different ways, whether it be helping out in times of disaster or crisis, supporting the most vulnerable people in our community, or assisting with community events.<\/p>\n
“As your local Labor MP I’m proud to be delivering more than $66,000 for 28 North Coast community organisations to continue their great work.”<\/p>\n
Recipients include Surf Life Saving Clubs at Cabarita Beach, Cudgen, Ballina and Lennox Head, as well as Byron Community Centre, Tweed Meals on Wheels, Brunswick Valley Landcare and the Rainbow Region Dragon Boat Club.<\/p>\n
Other groups sharing in the funding include sports clubs such as Byron Bay Basketball Association, Ballina Seagulls Football Club, Saints Netball Club Tweed and Shores United Soccer Club in Ocean Shores.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
