A RECORD number of competitors turned out to help raise thousands of dollar for sick children with nearly 1000 people competing in the annual Darrel Chapman Fun Run in Lismore.<\/p>\n

The event attracted 800 early registrations with additional entries for its signature 10km and 21km runs.<\/p>\n

Peter King took out the men’s 21km run in a time of one hour, 17 minutes and 46 seconds, while Jacob Dwane won the 10km event in 36 minutes and four seconds.<\/p>\n

Larissa Whitton won the women’s 21km in a time of one hour, 32 minutes and 57 seconds, with Amber Curtis the 10km winner coming in at 43 minutes and 40 seconds.<\/p>\n

The event has been running for more than 30 years and supported by naming rights sponsors National Australia Bank Lismore and the Northern Rivers branch of the Lord’s Taverners.<\/p>\n

The annual fun run attracts families from across the region who help raise money for Our Kids.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

 <\/p>\n

All funds raised go to Our Kids, the charity that raises funds to help support children with special needs and chronic illness in the Northern Rivers.<\/p>\n

Our Kids Fundraising Coordinator Rebekka Battista said the funds will go towards purchasing a GlideScope CORE System for Byron Central Hospital’s Emergency Department<\/p>\n

“It is a vital airway visualisation system offering high-definition image quality for intubation,”Ms Battista said.<\/p>\n

“The paediatric blades provide a clear view of a child’s airway, enhancing treatment and supporting teaching techniques.<\/p>\n
