THREE health service priorities for Murwillumbah have been identified at a multi-agency planning workshop last month.<\/p>\n

The Collaborative Care Project, supported by NSW Health and led by Rural Doctors Network (RDN) alongside local stakeholders focuses on improving health service access, support and preventative health programs.<\/p>\n

Following extensive health professional and community consultation the first priority acknowledged was to improve the community\u2019s understanding of the range of health services currently available and how to access them.<\/p>\n

The second pressing need discussed was making mental health services and drug and alcohol support more accessible.<\/p>\n

The third priority was promoting preventative health programs and the social supports that the community needs for good health and wellbeing.<\/p>\n

Collaborative Care program lead, Justyn Walker, said the priorities reflected what the community and health service providers had been asking for.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe priorities that were identified are opportunities to work together to improve the health and well-being of the Murwillumbah community,\u201d Walker said.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur next step is to plan how we can make these improvements sustainable and ensure services meet community needs now and into the future.\u201d<\/p>\n

Local partners of the Murwillumbah program include Healthy North Coast, Murwillumbah Community Centre, Northern NSW Local Health District, NSW Ambulance, RDN, and Tweed Shire Council.<\/p>\n
