A FOCUS on bridge repairs and roadworks has seen Lismore City Council complete about 120 vital projects under its Flood Restoration Portfolio.<\/p>\n
The rebuild and repair work has resulted in many projects recently finished or nearing competition.<\/p>\n
The projects include roads, bridges and landslips, sporting venues, cultural hubs and community facilities.<\/p>\n
They also focus on vital flood resilience infrastructure, including urban stormwater drainage.<\/p>\n
Some recent works include reopening Woodlawn Road, restoration of Cabbage Tree Creek Bridge on Hutchinson Road, and refurbishment of the Upper Hollingworth Creek flood gate.<\/p>\n
There has also been the construction of 10 new public amenities buildings, including Lismore Railway Station.<\/p>\n
“These achievements wouldn’t be possible without the support and encouragement of our community and government partners,” Lismore mayor Steve Krieg said.<\/p>\n
“Together, we’re delivering projects that protect homes, connect communities and strengthen our city \u2013 with benefits that will be felt for years to come.”<\/p>\n
Essential flood pump upgrades are now underway with major landslip repairs ongoing in the hills around Nimbin.<\/p>\n
The council recently won a Local Government Procurement award for its Flood Restoration Portfolio at a gala night in Sydney.<\/p>\n
The award considers financial, social and environmental impacts, as well as their potential for long-term benefits.<\/p>\n
Larger works include repairs on Nimbin and Blue Knob roads, and the restoration of Lismore City Library, Lismore Regional Gallery and Quad, Lismore Municipal Building and Lismore Airport Terminal.<\/p>\n
Sports facilities at the Albert Park baseball complex, Lismore Basketball Stadium, Lismore Workers FC clubhouse and Marie Mackney Netball Courts have also been repaired.<\/p>\n
The works are jointly funded by the state and federal government under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
