TWIN Towns has handed over the keys to a brand-new $296,000 refrigerated delivery truck to Tweed-based service, Vibe Care Pantry, supporting local families in need.<\/p>\n

The vital community service provides low-cost and free groceries to vulnerable families, schools, people living on the street, and other local community organisations.<\/p>\n

Twin Towns’ giving platform, known as Twinnies Gives, donated $146,000 and $150,000 via the state-wide Government-administered scheme ClubGRANTS, also supported the new equipment.<\/p>\n

Community Foundation chair Ken Culpitt said the directors had recognised the incredible work of Vibe Care Pantry in the local community.<\/p>\n

“We were pleased to provide the additional funds needed to cover the purchase,” Culpitt said.<\/p>\n

“The new 25-tonne Fuso Shogun truck is certainly impressive, and we hope it keeps Vibe Care Pantry mobile for another 10 years at least.”<\/p>\n

Joint lead pastor of Vibe Church, David Nahi, said that the support received from Twin Towns over the years has been a blessing.<\/p>\n

“This new truck is a big deal for us. It will help expand and improve food distribution, increasing deliveries to families, schools and shelters,” Nahi said.<\/p>\n

“It’s also good timing. Around Christmas time, we experience a huge increase in the number of people seeking assistance.<\/p>\n

“Our customers often tell us that without the pantry, they wouldn’t be able to afford Christmas presents for their children or grandchildren.”<\/p>\n

Nahi said the truck would allow the organisation to transport around double the amount of food currently distributed to the community.<\/p>\n

“Our smaller truck often has to leave great products behind, simply because we can’t fit them onboard,” he said.<\/p>\n

“On behalf of Vibe Church and Vibe Care Pantry, we thank Twin Towns for their generosity and support of our efforts to provide food for thousands of people each and every week.<\/p>\n
