{"id":112512,"date":"2026-01-02T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-01-01T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/lismoretimes\/?p=112512"},"modified":"2025-12-19T19:55:28","modified_gmt":"2025-12-19T08:55:28","slug":"rainbow-girls-to-light-up-community-hall-during-australian-tour","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/lismoretimes\/living\/rainbow-girls-to-light-up-community-hall-during-australian-tour\/","title":{"rendered":"Rainbow Girls to light up community hall during Australian tour"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PEARCES Creek Hall will host Californian indie-bluegrass trio the Rainbow Girls in one of their only Australian shows during a March tour.<\/p>\n<p>The trio, Erin Chapin, Caitlin Gowdey and Vanessa May, have spent more than a decade performing around the world.<\/p>\n<p>The show is scheduled for Wednesday, March 11, following the band&#8217;s European tour.<\/p>\n<p>The Rainbow Girls met in Southern California and formed at a weekly open mic night they hosted at their college Rainbow House.<\/p>\n<p>They spent their first few summers as a band busking and couch-surfing across Europe on one-way plane tickets.<\/p>\n<p>Their 2024 album Haunting explores how women find strength through grief and resilience.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The concept for this album came about from the word &#8216;haunting&#8217; itself, which is the most common adjective people use when describing female harmonies,&#8221; Chapin said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are reclaiming the word to describe our power \u2013 the power we find in reckoning with our trauma, grief, loss, and fear.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The show is one of a small number of Australian dates and adds to a run of international acts performing at the volunteer-run Pearces Creek Hall.<\/p>\n<p>Event organiser Simon Winfield said the band was well aware of the hall&#8217;s size and setting.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The band are used to playing to quite big crowds and I did say to them in our correspondence about where we are and the size of the hall,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They said they knew all about it, they know Minor Gold and have seen online footage of other bands who have played here.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The band recently shortened its tour but retained Pearces Creek as one of its Australian dates.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re grateful that they&#8217;ve kept us as one of their dates.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We had a band a few weeks ago who had a swim in the creek once they drove down from Brisbane and were later fed by our volunteers, it&#8217;s quite a unique experience.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The hall is run by a group of volunteers and has built a reputation for hosting folk and indie acts in an intimate setting.<\/p>\n<p>The hall will host more acts in coming weeks, including Charley Castle and the Boys in the Well on Sunday, January 4, and Irish twin brothers The Ocelots on Thursday, January 15.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets for the show are available through the band&#8217;s website <a href=\"http:\/\/rainbowgirlsmusic.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rainbowgirlsmusic.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PEARCES Creek Hall will host Californian indie-bluegrass trio the Rainbow Girls in one of their only Australian shows during a March tour.
