LISMORE businesses will be invited to take part in a flood preparedness workshop next week aimed at helping operators better plan for future flood events.<\/p>\n
Lismore City Council is hosting the event with Business Lismore at the Gordon Pavilion on Monday, February 9.<\/p>\n
The session will bring together emergency services, council staff and local organisations to share practical information and tools to help businesses prepare for and respond to flooding.<\/p>\n
Mayor Steve Krieg said preparedness and coordination were critical in a flood-prone community like Lismore.<\/p>\n
\u201cFlood preparedness is a shared responsibility, and our local businesses play a vital role in the resilience of our community,\u201d Krieg said.<\/p>\n
Attendees will hear from the NSW State Emergency Service about why flooding occurs in Lismore, what to expect during flood events and how the service responds during emergencies.<\/p>\n
Council will outline its flood preparedness resources, while Resilient Lismore will present a new flood plan guide and planning templates for businesses.<\/p>\n
Local business operators will also share firsthand experiences of operating during flood events as part of a panel discussion.<\/p>\n
Business Lismore president Michael Ackrell said the workshop was designed to provide clear and practical guidance for business owners.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is about giving businesses clear, actionable information so they feel prepared,\u201d Ackrell said.<\/p>\n
Council emergency management coordinator Jessica Anderson said the workshop would give business owners time and support to create or update their flood plans.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere will be opportunities to ask questions, connect with support organisations and access local resources,\u201d Anderson said.<\/p>\n
