A local woman is among a new intake of junior doctors who have started work across Northern Rivers hospitals this month.<\/p>\n
Anthea Warne is one of 19 new junior doctors recruited by Tweed Hospital and says her decision to pursue medicine was influenced by growing up alongside her father’s work as a long-serving GP in Murwillumbah.<\/p>\n
Warne said early exposure to hospital life helped shape her interest in the profession.<\/p>\n
“When I was little, I would often come along for Dad’s morning round in Murwillumbah Hospital,” Warne said.<\/p>\n
“He has taught me to always go the extra mile for my patients.”<\/p>\n
Warne said beginning her medical career in the region where she grew up felt like a natural fit.<\/p>\n
“I’ve been working with some old friends from school, netball and lifesaving on these wards, and the hospital is only a 10-minute bike ride away,” she said.<\/p>\n
She hopes to complete much of her training in regional hospitals while developing her interest in critical care and paediatrics.<\/p>\n
A total of 39 new junior medical officers have joined teams at Tweed Valley Hospital and Lismore Base Hospital as part of the latest intake.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
