Photo: SUPPLIED<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;540 airs are always a crowd pleaser,&#8221; Yeaman said.<\/p>\n<p>Yeaman said moving the event to the seven-foot halfpipe reflects its focus on skateboarding&#8217;s origins.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This event is about embracing the DIY ethos of skating&#8217;s roots and it really fits Murwillumbah&#8217;s creative, laid-back scene,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>Murwillumbah has long been home to alternative subcultures, including a strong skate and graffiti scene.<\/p>\n<p>Yeaman said skate spaces provide young people with an outlet for creativity and connection.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The skate park and graffiti walls are hubs for young people to express themselves,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Skate culture is about community and creativity here, and this upcoming event is not just about showcasing tricks but representing Murwillumbah&#8217;s alternative spirit.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/30\/2026\/03\/8C406403-4DE6-4E1F-A_85205.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"750\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Organisers have said that this year&#8217;s event will focus on skating&#8217;s &#8220;DIY &#8221; ethos.
