SUMMERLAND Farm has honoured Rhonda Morrow for 36 years of service as part of its International Women’s Day celebrations.<\/p>\n
The sustainable macadamia and avocado farm has become a much-loved tourist destination and thriving social enterprise of disability service provider Aruma.<\/span><\/p>\n Morrow started work in the farm’s nursery when she was 19 and has since taken on various roles, including work in the canteen and restaurant.<\/p>\n She now enjoys creating memorable high tea experiences for visitors and regularly assists with wedding setups, showcasing her flair for decorating.<\/p>\n Since 1972, Summerland Farm has employed hundreds of people with disability across its agricultural and hospitality businesses.<\/p>\n Many have built long-term careers at the farm, forging friendships and connections within Alstonville and the surrounding communities.<\/p>\n “I love coming to work, I like helping people and being part of the team,” Morrow said.<\/p>\n The farm currently employs around 240 staff, including approximately 130 people with disability.<\/p>\n Around half of all new roles created go to people with disability, making Summerland Farm one of the largest inclusive employers in the country.<\/p>\n Operations manager for hospitality and tourism, Elke Robinson, said Morrow exemplifies a life filled with purpose and connection.<\/p>\n “Rhonda quietly helps create the welcoming atmosphere that the farm is known for,” Robinson said.<\/p>\n “Her time here has made it not just a workplace but a place where she’s grown in confidence, built lifelong friendships, and become a valued member of a community she cares deeply about.<\/p>\n “For many visitors, Rhonda may simply be one of the friendly faces at the farm.
