LISMORE City Council is calling for community input to help shape the future use and fit out of City Hall as major upgrades to the flood affected venue continue.<\/p>\n
Registrations of Interest opened on March 17, with council inviting feedback from arts and cultural groups, businesses, education providers, venue managers and event organisers.<\/p>\n
Council said the process is designed to better understand how the restored building could be used and what facilities future users may require.<\/p>\n
City Hall, located on Bounty Street, was originally built in the 1960s and modernised in 2013.<\/p>\n
It is now undergoing further improvements to accessibility, internal layout and flood resilience.<\/p>\n
Once reopened, the venue is expected to host a range of activities including performances, exhibitions, conferences, community events, workshops and rehearsals.<\/p>\n
Council is also seeking input on demand for specific spaces within the building, including a 400 square metre auditorium capable of accommodating up to 750 people standing or 500 in theatre style seating.<\/p>\n
Other areas available for potential use include a VIP room for small receptions, two multipurpose rooms, kitchen and bar facilities and an outdoor forecourt suitable for markets or food vendors.<\/p>\n
Council said responses would help inform final design and fit out decisions, explore operational models and identify opportunities for partnerships or leasing arrangements.<\/p>\n
The information gathering process does not involve bookings or selection of respondents.<\/p>\n
Registrations of Interest close on April 7 at 4pm.<\/p>\n
