A CABARITA fashion parade will raise funds for palliative care service Wedgetail Retreat later this month.<\/p>\n
The fundraiser is being organised by Drift Clothing owner and designer Sharyn Brodie, whose family was supported by the facility during her father’s final weeks.<\/p>\n
“Wedgetail to me is a place of angels on earth,” she said.<\/p>\n
“They assisted all of us in the transition and acceptance of what was to be for Dad.<\/p>\n
“They were always available to talk, support or guide us.”<\/p>\n
Wedgetail Retreat is a non-government funded hospice that relies largely on community donations, with staff and volunteers providing round the clock care.<\/p>\n
Brodie said the event aims to give something back to a service that supported her family during one of the most difficult times in their lives.<\/p>\n
With a fundraising goal of $5,000, the afternoon will feature a fashion parade, raffles, silent auctions and a meet and greet with champagne.<\/p>\n
Local residents will model the clothing in support of the cause.<\/p>\n
“They are doing it for fun and the love of our community,” Brodie said.<\/p>\n
More than $2,000 worth of prizes have already been donated by local businesses and suppliers.<\/p>\n
An award for best dressed will also be presented on the day.<\/p>\n
“Everyone dresses to their best of course,” she said.<\/p>\n
“But our best dressed on this day is chosen by me, and it’s all about the brightest happiest outfit that is worn with the most style and grace.”<\/p>\n
The fundraiser will be held at Cabarita Bowls Club on March 28 from 3pm to 5pm.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
