<\/p>\nCOMMUMITY organisations in Lismore are being invited to partner with Northern NSW Local Health<\/p>\n
District to help deliver healthy living initiatives.<\/p>\n
The district is calling for expressions of interest from local groups as part of its Healthy Living Program, which aims to support people to adopt healthier lifestyle habits and promote wellness and healthy ageing.<\/p>\n
Acting director Aboriginal health, oral health and health promotion Cameron Johnson said the district was keen to hear from organisations already delivering programs in the community.<\/p>\n
“We would like to find out about existing local projects that support people in Lismore with healthy eating and physical activity,” he said.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
“By working in partnership with locals and locally based community organisations, we can help keep people healthy and well, and out of hospitals.<\/p>\n
“We are looking forward to learning about the great initiatives based in Lismore, including those working in partnership with Aboriginal people.”<\/p>\n
The district is particularly interested in initiatives focused on physical activity, sport, dance, healthy eating and social connection for people of all ages.<\/p>\n
Recent health promotion activities have included healthy eating programs for families, fitness initiatives for older residents and community education about the risks associated with vaping.<\/p>\n
Organisations are encouraged to submit details of their programs by April 10.<\/p>\n
