He said the band helped inspire him when he first started playing.<\/p>\n
“It’s the first album the band has done with live drums on it, and it was my first album with them,” he said.<\/p>\n
“All the earlier stuff used programmed drums, so it was pretty special to come in and record properly.”<\/p>\n
The new record also explores more personal themes, shaped by experiences shared by Becher and Coutts-Smith.<\/p>\n
“It definitely leans more into real-life experiences,” Becher said.<\/p>\n
“When I joined, I was going through a heavy time, my dad had just passed away and that emotion found its way into the music.<\/p>\n
“Tim was going through a few things as well and drew on those experiences.<\/p>\n
“There’s a track called On the Overwhelm that really captures that feeling. It’s about how we were both processing things.”<\/p>\n
The band will also play at Howl & Moan Records in Byron Bay on Friday, 10 April.<\/p>\n
