TWEED Shire Council has launched a new online portal designed to streamline filming applications and make it easier for screen productions to work across the region.<\/p>\n
The Tweed Filming Portal brings permit information, planning resources, filming locations and application guidance into a single online hub for filmmakers and production companies.<\/p>\n
Council’s manager destination, communication and customer experience Tiffany Stodart said the portal highlighted the Tweed’s growing reputation as a screen destination while helping balance filming activity with community needs.<\/p>\n
“Over the past 5 years, the Tweed has received around 280 film and photography applications, from feature films and television productions to commercials and photo shoots,” Stodart said.<\/p>\n
“Our location, natural environment and strong creative community make the Tweed an attractive destination for filmmakers from across Australia and overseas.”<\/p>\n
The Tweed’s appeal as a filming location was recently highlighted in the 2024 production Eden, which was partly filmed at Cabarita by director Ron Howard.<\/p>\n
A spokesperson for the production praised council’s support during filming.<\/p>\n
“Filming on the Tweed Coast was a large, challenging and logistically complex undertaking,” he said.<\/p>\n
“We genuinely couldn’t have achieved it without the Council’s assistance and guidance.”<\/p>\n
The portal also includes a showreel featuring productions filmed in the region, including Muriel’s Wedding and I’m a Celebrity\u2026 Get Me Out of Here!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
