	{"id":115769,"date":"2026-06-09T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-06-08T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/lismoretimes\/?p=115769"},"modified":"2026-06-09T04:00:00","modified_gmt":"2026-06-08T18:00:00","slug":"community-grants-open-across-tweed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/lismoretimes\/news\/community-grants-open-across-tweed\/","title":{"rendered":"Community grants open across Tweed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NOT-for-profit organisations across the Tweed can now apply for funding, with Tweed Shire Council opening a new round of community grants of up to $5,000.<\/p>\n<p>The funding is part of the council&#8217;s Community Grant Program and is designed to assist local organisations to deliver projects that encourage social connection, support inclusion and strengthen community ties.<\/p>\n<p>In the previous funding round, 13 organisations were successful, representing a range of community groups including an art school, preschools, a theatre company, a fishing club and a community garden.<\/p>\n<p>The council&#8217;s acting inclusive and creative manager, Kim Wilson, said the program played a key role in supporting grassroots organisations.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;These grants provide a valuable opportunity for local groups to strengthen connections and create positive social impact across our community,&#8221; Wilson said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/30\/2026\/06\/MurbahFootballClubGr_96286.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The newly installed plaque at Murwillumbah Football Club recognising the contribution of Tweed Shire Council through the Community Grants Program 2025. Photo: Tweed Shire Council.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are proud to support organisations that are helping to build a more inclusive, resilient and caring Tweed.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>One of last year&#8217;s recipients, Murwillumbah Football Club, received $4,270 to assist with restoring its canteen after it was significantly damaged in the 2022 floods.<\/p>\n<p>The funding supported the purchase of essential electrical appliances and contributed to repair and rebuilding work.<\/p>\n<p>Murwillumbah Football Club president Jessica Lee said the grant had made a meaningful difference.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Having the canteen back open at the club has made a huge impact, not only financially but also just for the community itself,&#8221; Lee said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our parents are involved.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our kids are involved.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re fed, we&#8217;re happy.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;And it just creates a really happy environment.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The council has encouraged organisations interested in applying to attend free drop-in support sessions, where they can ask questions and receive guidance on their applications.<\/p>\n<p>Applications close on 30 June.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, visit the Tweed Shire Council website.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NOT-for-profit organisations across the Tweed can now apply for funding, with Tweed Shire Council opening a new round of community grants of up to $5,000.
