THE Newrybar Community Hall Country and Western Hoedown is set to bring the community together for a night of music and entertainment while also supporting plans for upgrades at the facility.<\/p>\n

The event will be held on Saturday 27 June and is part of a broader push to breathe new life into the village.<\/p>\n

Plans for the hall include a proposed verandah extension and a new downstairs event space.<\/p>\n

Event organiser and Newrybar Hall president Kurt Rettenmaier said it was part of an overall push to better serve the community.<\/p>\n

“We’ve put forward a concept to council that really looks at how we make the hall more usable for the whole community,” he said.<\/p>\n

“It’s about improving what’s already here so it can serve more people, more often.”<\/p>\n

The hoedown will feature live music from Cowboy Simple Music, with a full country and western atmosphere designed to encourage dancing and community participation.<\/p>\n

There will be a western barbecue, bucking bronco rides, a silent auction and a range of themed activities.<\/p>\n

“We’re really leaning into that country feel,” Rettenmaier said.<\/p>\n

“It’s meant to be fun, relaxed and something that feels welcoming for everyone who comes along.<\/p>\n

“We wanted to create something where people don’t just come and sit, they get involved.<\/p>\n

“That’s when you really start building community again.”<\/p>\n

Rettenmaier said the response so far has shown strong local support for both the event and the broader vision for the hall precinct.<\/p>\n

He said ticket sales could reach 250 and put a spotlight on Newrybar with other events in the future.<\/p>\n

“There’s a real sense that people want to see this place thrive,” he said.<\/p>\n

“Events like this help show what’s possible. “They bring people together and remind us why these places matter.”<\/p>\n
