MAJOR flood recovery projects at schools across the Northern Rivers are progressing, with rebuilding underway at Lismore South Public School, a new Richmond River High campus taking shape and permanent facilities planned for Murwillumbah East Public School.<\/p>\n
State Member for Lismore Janelle Saffin said rebuilding at Lismore South Public School and Ngulliboo Jarjums Preschool was well advanced, with all new building modules, including the preschool and hall, now installed.<\/p>\n
“Now that all the buildings have been lifted into place, landscaping and external works can be undertaken, as well as connecting the school’s internet, phones and services,” Saffin said.<\/p>\n
She said the rebuild was expected to be completed in late 2026, weather permitting. The new facilities will include 13 classrooms, a library, multi-purpose hall, administration areas and dedicated preschool spaces.<\/p>\n
Work is also continuing on the new Rivers Secondary College Richmond River High Campus at North Lismore, which remains on track for completion in 2027.<\/p>\n
Saffin said manufacturing of the new buildings was expected to begin off-site in August. The flood-resilient campus will include modern classrooms, specialist learning spaces, a library, VET and agriculture facilities, sports fields and performance spaces.<\/p>\n
Planning is also underway for new permanent facilities at Murwillumbah East Public School, including four classrooms, a canteen, specialist support classes and landscaping. All demountable buildings will be removed to create more play space for students.<\/p>\n
A Review of Environmental Factors is on public exhibition until 16 July, with a builder expected to be appointed at the start of Term 3.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
