Within the co-educational school community, all students are welcomed and supported to flourish.

THIS Education Week, Girton Grammar celebrates the rich cultures that shape our school community.

The values of diversity, equality and inclusion have been at Girton’s heart since 1884, when two visionary women founded a school that would pioneer in providing girls access to a full and rigorous education.

Today, that same spirit lives on in our proudly co-educational school community, where all students are welcomed and supported to flourish.

Events such as Harmony Day and International Day showcase the strength and cultural vibrancy of the community.

While honouring more than 140 years of tradition, Girton embraces innovation to equip students for the challenges and opportunities of a changing world – one where emotional intelligence is as valuable as academic achievement.

Our dedicated social and emotional learning programs nurture empathy, resilience and positive relationships, while our school charter commits us to welcoming all perspectives and fostering an environment where every student feels happy, safe and respected.

Language studies are another cornerstone of Girton’s globally minded education. Students receive specialist instruction in French and Japanese from the early years, before working towards fluency in their language of choice.

Girton has an international exchange program with Gojo Senior High School in Japan.

Learning comes to life through languages other than English immersion electives in areas such as drama, art and cuisine, as well as cultural exchanges with sister schools in Japan and France. Girton is proud to host one of regional Victoria’s longest-running international exchange programs with Gojo Senior High School in Japan.

Learning at Girton is supported by state-of-the-art facilities that continue to evolve. These include our VR-equipped Lumination Learning Lab and the upcoming development of a dedicated languages building that will provide a collaborative hub for our English, French and Japanese faculties.

Events such as Harmony Day and International Day showcase the strength and cultural vibrancy of our community, with families leading activities from Chinese paper crafts to Indian dance and West African drumming.

We warmly invite prospective families to explore our school and experience firsthand the inclusive and inspiring environment that defines a Girton education.
