A CURATED showcase of some of Australia’s best and brightest blues guitarists is set to amp up the audience at the Capital in View Street on Saturday 14 February.

The Blues Guitar Roadshow will bring together an all-star lineup of blues luminaries including Dave Hole (WA), Geoff Achison with Tom Waters (UK), Fiona Boyes, The McNaMarr Project (Andrea Marr and John McNamara), George Kamikawa and Shane Gilbert.

Each artist will take a turn in the spotlight with their own headline set, backed by the BGR House Band, before the night builds towards a high-energy all-star jam to close the show.

Guitarist John McNamara is the driving force behind the concept and serves as producer of the ensemble event.

Local live music fans are encouraged to seize the chance to experience what organisers describe as a “one-off spectacle”.

He said the idea was born from a desire to give audiences “a lot of bang for their buck”.

“We put (the first) one on at Memo Hall in St Kilda during Covid and everyone had to be socially distanced,” he said.

“We sold out – it was like lightning in a bottle, everyone was buzzing about it.

“We thought ‘Wow, this has got legs’, and that’s how it kicked off.

“It feels like a music festival but it’s one show, one night.”

McNamara encouraged local live music fans to seize the chance to experience what he described as a “one-off spectacle”.

“Every time we do this it’s completely different – it’s real musicians collaborating, it’s not a cover band,” he said.

“It’s not a tribute act, it’s real music by people who live and breathe and absolutely love what they’re doing.

“We’re going to be having so much fun on stage. I think people will feel that and we’d love to see them there.”

The Blues Guitar Roadshow is happening on 14 February at the Capital.
