Bringing great Australian outback art to Bendigo
PRO Hart was born in Broken Hill and spent most of his life there until he passed in 2006.
He was an innovative artist who brought the colours of the Australian outback to the world. He also painted in a variety of styles and worked as a sculpture in steel and bronze.
We are lucky to have several of his works at our showroom for auction until Christmas. We will, however, continue to bring great Australian outback art to Bendigo every month for the next years to come.
Clifford Possum is one of Australia’s greatest and most collectible Aboriginal artists. His works appear in galleries across Australia and the world.
He lived around Papunya in the Northern Territory and was a leading figure that brought ‘dot and circle’ painting from the area to a wider audience. We have an excellent example of his work available for viewing and auction in late November/Early December.
We will also showcase masterworks from other great artists at this auction and the ones following in the new year.
This includes Otto Pareroultja who was born in Hermannsburg, Northern Territory in 1914 and passed in 1973.
He was part of a new generation that followed Albert Namtjira. Unlike Namatjira, who was a realist, Pareroultja painted in an impressionist style, and, along with his brothers, is credited with developing a ‘modern’ Indigenous art movement.
In our next auction and new year, we will present some of his work, along with that of Ewald Namatjira, son of Albert, Paddy Frodham, Clem Abbot and others.
Such great Australian art brings the unique colours and stories of the bush to us all.
Visit Bendigo Auctions to enjoy these works, open weekends from 10am to 3pm at 116-118 High Street, Bendigo or call on 0498 853 992.
