A quartet of Australia’s most enduring musical theatre and opera stars will bring their indisputable talents to Ulumbarra Theatre on Sunday 1 March for what has been described as “the performance of a lifetime”.
The Ovation Tour, featuring Marina Prior, ARIA awardee David Hobson, powerhouse Silvie Paladino and internationally acclaimed baritone Michael Cormick (accompanied by piano and a string quartet), will span all corners of the country between February and June.
Audiences can look forward to taking in classics from shows including Phantom of the Opera, Les Misérables, Cats, Mamma Mia! and Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, as well as operatic masterpieces including La bohème.
Melbourne-born Cormick said Bendigo has a special place in his heart and he is really looking forwar” to performing at Ulumbarra Theatre again.
“Whilst growing up we used to visit my aunty and uncle there often; I have many fond memories and I love feeling the warmth of the audiences in Bendigo,” he said.
“Preparations for the tour are going well, (however) choosing the material has been a challenge, mainly because we have so much to choose from.
“Between us we’ve racked up almost 200 years on the boards – I know that sounds ridiculous, but it’s true.
“So, collectively, we’ve chosen our greatest hits, with a few new duets and quartets thrown into the mix.
“I think the audiences are in for a real treat.”
The Ovation Tour comes to the Ulumbarra Theatre on 1 March.
Tickets to the show can be found on Gotix.
