A chance to try golf

Potential golfers are invited to try the game at the Get Into Golf Day at Heathcote Golf Club on 24 August.
HEATHCOTE Golf Club will hold a Get Into Golf Day on Sunday 24 August.
It follows the success of similar initiatives at other regional golf clubs across the state.
“Many people, of all ages, have thought about playing golf over the years, but simply don’t know where to start,” said Heathcote Golf Club committee member Mark Kevin.
“It all seems a bit daunting.
“The aim of the day is to welcome potential golfers to the club and take the mystery out of this game of golf.
“Our Get Into Golf Day is about welcoming people to the club and giving some education about what golf is about to help them on the journey into golf.”
There will be a special focus on encouraging women of all ages to attend.

“I have spoken with a number of women and there is often a feeling that they won’t be good enough to play,” said committee member Liz Tobin.
“This program is designed to help deal with the perception that you must be a great golfer to play.”
No previous experience is necessary.
The club will have free tuition available, and will provide clubs and balls.
The Get Into Golf day will run on Sunday 24 August from 2pm to 3.30pm at the Heathcote Golf Club, 61 Patterson Street, Heathcote.
For those who like the experience and want to take it further, there will be follow-up sessions available.
Everyone is welcome. Anyone interested can call Ms Tobin on 0408 158 861 or Mr Kevin on 0418 442 593 for more details.
