VOCALIST, actor, author and poet Jane Clifton presented her one-woman show in Heathcote recently as part of the Bendigo Writers Festival.

Clifton performed her self-written production A Day at a Time in Rhyme to an appreciative audience at Heathcote RSL.

“Jane Clifton was super,” said Maree Hingston, from Mudbrick Motley Theatre.

“It was a privilege to have such a professional entertainer appear in our town.”

Clifton resolved to write a poem a day in 2018 and stuck to her resolution.

“Her play was developed from her poetry and prose written in one year of her busy life,” said Ms Hingston.

“Her poems grew out of her need to express her thoughts, opinions, emotions and desires.

“Some were filled with wry humour, others painfully sad. Jane sang some of her poems and used her voice with exceptional power and nuance to tell her story.

“The audience was charmed and delighted. It was a compelling performance.”

Linda Cornelissen attended the performance with her husband and friends.

“We were amazed at how she held the audience in her hand for the whole show,” she said. “The content was all about daily life and the ups and downs we all experience.

“The use of visual cues and footage, and background sound added an extra dimension.”
