HEATHCOTE Primary School welcomed fathers, grandfathers and father figures from the school community to a special Father’s Day breakfast barbecue last week.
Guests enjoyed a breakfast of sausages, bacon and eggs.
“We were very grateful for the donation of sausages, bacon, rolls and sauces from Coles McIvor Road through one of our families and a donation of eggs from another family,” principal Carolyn Crowther said.
“I would like to thank our fathers, grandfathers and father figures who braved the cold and an early start to join their young people for breakfast.
“We introduced the barbecue breakfast in 2024, and it was back with a bang this year with at least double the attendance.
“I am grateful to Brooke, our kitchen leader and chief chef for organising the event and the staff who donned aprons and whipped up breakfast.
“There was a line for seconds, and thirds, and not an ounce of food was left by the time 9am rolled around.”
Brooke Wallace, kitchen leader at the school, said she was pleased with the number of people who supported the event.

“It was wonderful to see so many father figures and family members enjoying a cooked breakfast to celebrate all that they do for our students,” she said.
Ms Crowther said she received lots of positive feedback about the event.
“The barbecue was a great way to celebrate Father’s Day and my son’s birthday morning,” said Brendan, father of grade 3 student Jett.
Jake, father of foundation student Ernie, said it was a good turnout of dads.
“Thanks for the breakfast,” he said.
Brendan, father of foundation student Lincoln, said it was a fantastic breakfast spent with his little man.
Zane, father of foundation and grade 2 students, enjoyed meeting other dads he hadn’t met before.
“The food was good. I liked having dad at school,” said Charlie, foundation student and Zane’s son.
