The classes are facilitated by Charley Leader who has been teaching for almost 20 years.
The Swinburne art graduate said it is important to teach children to find their own way in relation to various art mediums.
“I teach them about the different ways an artist works,” she said.
“Then encourage them to use the knowledge they already have.
“I want them to feel empowered and to find confidence in their art so they can articulate their own experiences.

“I really love the way visual art connects with what they are already doing.”
Heathcote Community House executive officer Vicki Forde said she is pleased the centre is able to offer the classes.
“We are very fortunate to have Charley, a professional teacher with loads of experience in the arts and with children alike to be available to our local community,” she said.
“We look forward to displaying some of the artwork in the future.”
Classes run from 5.30pm to 6.30pm on Wednesdays. Cost is $15 per class or $10 for concession or siblings.
All materials are included. Bookings are essential. To book or for further information, contact 5433 2820 or 0409 100 071.
