Annual film festival continues to grow
MEMBERS of the Heathcote International Short Film Festival committee have already begun planning for next year.
The 12th annual festival was held last weekend.
“We were absolutely thrilled with the support we received from both the community and our sponsors over this year’s festival,” said committee member Duncan McGann.
“It was a really busy event, and we have received some great positive feedback from those who attended.
“This was the 12th annual Heathcote International Short Film Festival and the second organised by the current committee.
“People really embraced the spirit of the event, and it was gratifying to see so many locals coming together to enjoy entertaining, interesting and thought-provoking films.”
There were more than 100 attendees at the Friday night Popcorn and Picnic session.
“We were particularly pleased to see the growth in the ‘Popcorn and Picnic’ event,” said Mr McGann.
“The vibe was very positive.
“The Gala Dinner on Saturday was also very successful and well received, with around 130 diners in attendance.
“People dressed up and made a real event of it.
“Our sponsors were extremely generous and ensured the success of this year’s festival.
“We would like to thank Bendigo Bank, M. Chapoutier, Envy Distilling, Fallow, Flynns Wines, Jasper Hill, Kennedy, Mandalay Resources, Munari Wines, Pacific Earth, Palling Bros Brewery, Red Edge, She-Oak Hill, Silver Spoon Estate, Tellurian, Wild Duck Creek Estate and the Union Hotel.
“As the festival grows, our reputation with filmmakers is also growing and we received many excellent submissions this year.”
Mr McGann said feedback about the quality of the festival was positive. “We have already begun planning for next year and look forward to building on the momentum we have,” he said.
