Axedale golfers helped by Herbert
TWO of Axedale Golf Club’s rising stars will be helped in their drive to improve their game by gaining support from LIV golfing star Lucas Herbert.
For the second year running, Herbert has joined forces with the Bendigo Sports Star of the Year to award some cash to young golfers at Axedale, Bendigo, and Neangar Park golf clubs.
The Axedale course is one where Herbert spent a fair amount of time perfecting his driving, chipping, putting, and more on his way to teeing off in the world circuit.
A share of his winnings from the LIV circuit will go to help the Bendigo region’s next wave of golfing talent.
Herbert will be special guest at the golf scholarship presentation being run on November 7 at Red Energy Arena in West Bendigo.
The Bendigo Sports Star of the Year in 2020 and ’21, Herbert will talk about the highs and some tough points of this year’s golfing action, plans for ’25 and more.
He was the Cyril Michelsen Trust Fund recipient in Bendigo’s Sports Star of the Year award in 2010-11.
The Lucas Herbert Golf scholarship is not just about results, but also based on improvement, dedication to the sport and helping boys and girls achieve goals on their golfing pathway.
A three-time winner on the European tour, Herbert has claimed one PGA title and teed off in 14 majors.
The golfing scholarship recipients also receive a 12-month gym membership through the great support of D-Club 24/7 in Bendigo’s Bath Lane.
