THE Tuesday Night Social Pennant Bowls competition is set to start again on 14 November at Heathcote Bowls Club.

Both experienced and novice players wanting to try the sport are welcome to take part in the barefoot competition.

Registration is on Cup Day, 7 November, at 6pm, at the Heathcote Bowling Club at 1 Herriot Street.

“This is a casual event and easy to be involved in,” said club member Duncan McGann.

“No previous experience is necessary. Bowls are supplied as are quick lessons, if required.

“The focus is for people to enjoy the gentle game of lawn bowls and also create another social outlet to get to know more people in the community.”

Barefoot Bowls began in Australia more than 10 years ago and has steadily grown in popularity.

It’s suitable for all ages and is an introduction to bowling for new players.

Both individuals and teams can register.

“Teams are composed of four players each week, so larger groups can register and rotate their players as they please, or individuals can register and will be placed in a team with others,” said Mr McGann.

“Any teams or players wanting to play can attend the registration night, contact the bowling club on 54333584 or [email protected], club president Bill Gardiner on 0437 685 001, or any bowling club member.”
