HEATHCOTE Bowling Club Inc presented the Heathcote Community House with a very big cheque last week for the Food Relief Meal program.

Despite the Australia Day bowling tournament being cancelled due to extreme heat, the club still raised more than $4000 through raffles, auctions and donations.

“[The cheque] was big in more ways than one,” said community house executive officer Vicki Forde.

“Thanks to a fundraiser on Australia Day, the club raised a whopping $4262 for our Food Relief Meal Program.

“We are completely blown away by the kindness and support from the Bowling Club for our program.

“Thank you to all involved, it was both an honour and privilege to accept this generosity shown by so many in our village and, of course, the amazing bowling club team.

“We are grateful to all who contributed, donated, bought tickets, walked the streets, attended the draw and bid in the auction, and so much more.

“We are so very humbled and so very privileged to be part of such generosity.

“It really does take a village.”

The community house Food Relief Meal Program started in 2022 and delivers support to vulnerable members of the community.

It supplies organisations in Heathcote and surrounding communities with frozen meals for people who may be needing some temporary support.

The meals are prepared by volunteers in the community house kitchen.

Anyone who would like to volunteer can contact the community house on 5433 2820 or [email protected].
