Bowlers gather for 120th birthday celebration

PLAYERS past and present attended the Heathcote Bowling Club one hundred and twentieth anniversary afternoon tea recently.

A special feature on the afternoon was a display of photographs and memorabilia.

“We had an enjoyable afternoon tea attended by about 60 members, past members and sponsors to celebrate 120 years of the Heathcote Bowling Club,” said president Lorraine Speirs.

“It was wonderful to welcome so many members, including our oldest member, Ellis Knight. Ellis is a past president and spent 30 years on the committee.

“He shared his memories with us of almost 45 years as a club member.”

Ms Speirs proposed a toast to the club and cut an anniversary cake.

“We hope the Heathcote Bowling Club success continues for many years to come.”
