SEVENTY people attended the Tooborac Community Dinner at the Mechanics Institute Hall last Saturday.

The event was organised by the Tooborac Community Events Committee.

Local chef Markus Zihlmann catered for the dinner and Merindoc Winery donated the wine.

“We had a fantastic night,” said committee member Tanya Hancy.

“It was a community focused event designed for people to come together to enjoy a delicious meal cooked by a local chef and drink some local wines.

“We even had local floral arrangements sourced from local gardens and locally made candle centrepieces.

“During the evening, everyone mingled and chatted, and we had great feedback.”

“We are very grateful to everyone who attended and to all the volunteers who generously offered help both in the lead up and on the night.

“We have a wonderful community.”

Copies of Tooborac History Book were sold on the night. The book details the history of Tooborac from 1836-1986, and features stories of pioneers, family histories, sports, timber and schools.

“There are copies still available,” said Ms Hancy.

“They are $5 each and anyone who would like to purchase one can email [email protected].”

The next community event will be the annual Christmas party on Sunday 8 December.
