Bushfire appeal launched
BENDIGO Bank has launched an appeal to support communities that have been devastated by this month’s bushfires in Victoria.
“We know from experience that recovering from a disaster of this magnitude will be a marathon, not a sprint,” Richard Fennell, the bank’s chief executive officer, said.
“Bendigo Bank’s appeal offers immediate relief to those who need it and fosters long-term resilience where it is needed most, reflecting our deep roots and commitment to our regional Victorian communities.
“We’re committed to helping our neighbours rebuild their lives and strengthen our communities against future emergencies. Every contribution makes a difference.”
The bank’s charitable arm, the Community Enterprise Foundation, is facilitating the appeal.
A spokesperson in the greater Ballarat region said Community Bank Buninyong would continue to work with the Buninyong-Mount Helen CFA to determine any practical support they can assist with.
“For instance, in the Scotsburn fires 10 years ago our community house was used as an operations base and support centre,” they said.
People wishing to support communities affected by the bushfires are encouraged to provide monetary donations directly to the Victorian Bushfire Appeal, as monetary donations are quicker, more effective and provide more flexibility than donations of material items or pre-loved goods.
Since 2020, the Community Enterprise Foundation has distributed in excess of $40 million to bushfire-impacted communities.
Donations can be made online at bendigobank.com.au/vicfires or at the bank’s branches. All donations of $2 or more are tax deductible.
The bank is also providing service assistance to eligible customers affected by the fires.
