ST Vincent de Paul Heathcote is seeking knitted and crochet beanies for their assistance program.

Beanies in all sizes would be appreciated.

“Every year people kindly knit and donate beanies,” said vice-president Maryann Chrisp.

“We are very grateful to all those people who are so generous with their time and donations.

“Wool donations are also welcomed, and we have a supply for anyone who would like to come in and collect some to make beanies.”

The St Vincent de Paul Society Assistance Centre helps people in need of emergency relief and is open on Wednesdays and Fridays from 10am to noon.

Knitters can drop completed beanies at the centre.

For anyone who can knit or crochet larger items, Heathcote Health Aged Care needs ponchos.

“Our beautiful friends up the hill, our aged care residents are in need of some ponchos,” said community house executive officer Vicki Forde.

“Sometimes with injuries and so forth, it is difficult to put on cardigans, jackets and jumpers but ponchos are ideal.

“If anyone has a flair for knitting and crochet and can donate to the residents, it would be much appreciated.

“There are many free patterns available online.”

Ponchos can be taken to the aged care facility or left at Heathcote Community House.
