THE Federal Government has approved cash to a regional caravan park.

Announced last week by Member for Bendigo, Lisa Chesters, slightly more than $90,000 worth of funding will go towards the BIG4 Castlemaine Gardens Holiday Park.

The money will be used to create a new business park centre for future events at the location.

The funding comes from the Australian Caravan Park Grants program and is part of Federal Government’s $48 million package to boost tourism recovery efforts across the country following the impacts of the pandemic.

“Grants like this will help our local caravan parks attract more visitors and encourage them to stay longer by improving visitor experiences,” said Ms Chesters.

“Caravan parks are easily one of the most popular holiday accommodation choices, particularly for families, budget-conscious travellers, and travellers who want to get off the beaten track and explore everything our country has to offer.”

In total, the program is allocating $10 million across 111 park upgrade projects, all of which are expected to be completed by May next year.
