VOLUNTEERS from the Heathcote Community House (HCH) met for breakfast at Gaffney’s Bakery this week to celebrate National Volunteer Week.
The week is about highlighting the important role of volunteers and encouraging people to give it a go.
It is Australia’s largest annual celebration of volunteering.
Community house executive officer Vicki Forde said it was wonderful to have volunteers join together to celebrate their efforts.
“We are grateful for all our volunteers, both present and past,” she said.
“HCH would not be able to run without the wonderful work they do for Heathcote and the wider community.
“Volunteers should be celebrated each and every day of the year.”

Deb Bond, who has been volunteering at HCH since last October, said that being at the community house has expanded her horizons.
“I love meeting the townspeople and discovering what they all contribute to Heathcote,” she said.
Long-time volunteer Linda Cornelissen said she is glad to be able to do something for the community.
“I find it meaningful,” she said.
“But even more than that, I find it benefits me, and I am a better version of myself for it.”
Volunteers at HCH enjoy working in the garden, facilitating classes, office duties and cooking.
