Celebration for a special canine at The Barn

THE Barn Pet Stock and Feed will hold a special birthday party for their favourite employee, Chrissie the dog, on Saturday 11 October.

Chrissie will be eight years old.

“In the past we combined Chrissie’s birthdays with the annual Horse Birthday but this year we decided to have a special celebration just for her,” said The Barn co-owner Sharon Greenfield.

“It is going to be a special day and our way of thanking the wonderful community that supports us.

“I really appreciate how wonderful our customers have been since we opened.

“We will have a free barbeque, fairy floss and, of course, birthday cakes of both the human and dog kinds.

“There will be lots of games, prizes and activities for the kids.

“The kids who come into the store are always so well behaved and they all love Chrissie.”

Ms Greenfield has had Chrissie with her since she was a small puppy.

“She is actually the reason my late husband Bill and I started the business,” said Ms Greenfield.

“I had been working in IT, and when I got Chrissie, I refused to get another job unless I could take her with me.

“So, we started our own business.

“Chrissie was four months old when we opened.”

There will be reps from feed companies in attendance on the day to give advice on feeding dogs and horses.

“Everything is free and all we ask is that everyone buys a ticket in the raffle we are holding to support the SES.

“They do so much for all of us and this is our way of giving back to the wonderful volunteers.”

Chrissie’s birthday celebration will be held from 10am to 3pm at The Barn Pet Stock and Feed, 76 Kilmore Road, Heathcote.
