DOROTHY and Tin Man, footballers and fairies all emerged from the pages of some favourite reading material for Book Week parades at Holy Rosary and Heathcote primary schools last week.

Students paraded before parents, grandparents, and friends in an array of brightly coloured, imaginative costumes and make-up.

And, where was Wally? He didn’t miss the fun. Wally was a popular choice for both boys and girls at both schools and across all year levels.

Heathcote Primary School principal Kate Ballantyne thanked families and staff for their efforts and participation.

“There were some very creative costumes,” she said.

Teachers and staff and relived some of their childhood favourites, dressed as witches, Flintstones characters, and animals.

Heathcote Primary School teachers performed a skit of the classic There Was an Old Lady who Swallowed a Fly to laughter.

Throughout the day, students also engaged in special Book Week activities including a nature walk, art, puzzles and designing their own dream farmhouse.
