WITH works ongoing at Bendigo Health’s new Clinical Services Campus, Member for Bendigo West Maree Edwards visited the site last week for an update.

After a tour through the facilities, Ms Edwards viewed the facility’s developing hydrotherapy pool which she said is “coming along very nicely.”

“People will have access to changerooms directly into the hydrotherapy pool, and of course we’ve got other allied health services incorporated into this facility when it’s finished,” she said.

The services available through the Clinical Services Campus will include speech therapy, renal dialysis, dental therapy, and physiotherapy.

Ms Edwards said the facilities will offer convenient rehabilitative services in the one location.

“This is about making sure that people who have an experience at Bendigo Health… can come straight back over here to have access to the rehabilitation they need,” she said.

“Having it all here under the one roof is going to be a huge advantage for all of those patients. What this will give us is a beautiful health precinct.”

With construction initially slated for completion by the end of the year, Bendigo Health CEO Peter Faulkner gave an update on the timeline of delivery.

“The breast screen service… is currently located down at St John of God hospital. It’ll be the first service to move in to here,” he said.

“We’re anticipating that will be late next month. We’ll commission the building progressively.

“ATCO, the main builder, are doing their very best to ensure that the project is delivered as close to time and budget as is feasible.”

The project is being delivered with almost $60 million of State Government funding. It was announced in the State budget of 2018, and was expected to create 180 jobs.

The new facilities will mean the destruction of the two towers at the Anne Caudle campus which will be utilised as an open public and events space.
