Christmas market to raise funds for charity
LOCAL Rotarians are putting the final touches together for their annual Christmas market to be held at Mandurang Valley Winery this Sunday.
Lyn Comer, who oversees the market, said there will be a huge variety on offer with 51 stallholders taking part.
“All sorts of craft goods, Christmas goods, I think the lady who does macaroons is doing them again, there’s preserves, there’s just so much,” she said.
As part of the event Bendigo Women’s Shed will decorate cupcakes and make fairy floss for kids, but there will be plenty on offer for everyone.
“We’ll have the usual things, Devonshire tea, barbeque, wine tasting of course,” she said.
Entertainment will be provided on the day so visitors can take a load off and listen to live music, and will feature as Goldfields Ukestra, a local ukulele group.
“They come in the afternoon, and they are very entertaining people, a lot of people sit down and just listen to them and the kids enjoy it,” she said.
Entry is with a $2 gold coin donation that comes with the chance to win a painting by local artist Kim Lowe valued at $350.
Proceeds from stall sales and entry fees will go to Sunshine Bendigo, a local charity that supplies families in need with essential goods for babies and children.
Last year the market raised $4500, all of which was donated to the Rochester Little Athletics club.
The market will be on this Sunday 26 November from 10am to 3pm at Mandurang Valley Winery.
