Climate change focus for event
HEATHCOTE residents are invited to a zero emissions roadmap workshop next week, hosted by the Greater Bendigo Climate Collaboration.
GBCC co-ordinator Ian McBurney said they had been working with local communities, businesses and other groups across the City to create a 2030 zero emissions roadmap.
“The first thing the workshop is about is to find out what the people of Heathcote want to do to get to zero emissions,” he said.
“What support they need, what they’d like to advocate for and what projects they might be able to work on together.
“The second is to understand people’s needs on energy, on transport and on food so that we can design an education program in the next year or so.
“It’s mainly about what we can do together as a city and what we can advocate for together, but it’s also finding about what people’s needs really are.
“Do they want to find out about batteries, solar panels or electric cars?” he said. “Then we can help by bringing some experts out and run workshops.”
The Heathcote workshop will run from 4pm to 5pm on Monday, 20 March at Barrack Reserve and registration is available on the day.
