ESSENDON Football Club legends Kevin Sheedy, James Hird and Matthew Lloyd are coming to Bendigo for a meet-and-greet and interview panel event next month.

Sheedy coached the Bombers for more than a quarter-of-a-century and guided the team to four VFL/ AFL flags.

Long time skipper Hird played in two of those premierships and then helmed the club between 2011 and 2015, while Lloyd also lifted a cup at the turn of the century and claimed three Coleman Medals as the league’s highest goal kicker.

Authentic Autographs and Events Australia director Vin Handley said the event is a “celebration” of the 2000 premiership.

“The Bombers are pretty strong down Bendigo way as well, so they’ve got good support down that way,” he said.

“It’s a very heavily attended show, we’ve probably rolled it out about seven or eight times now around Australia and it’ll probably have close to 250-300 people at this one.

“The bulk of the show, they’ll go back and revisit the glory year of the 2000 premiership.”

As part of the event, there’ll question and answer session as well as raffles and auctions with a chance to win a photo with the stars.

Mr Handley said the trio will also talk about their views on the game, where they see the footballs is at currently, and how the Bombers are doing.

“There’s a bit of a light-hearted side of it as well, which is more get-to-know-you questions with the panellists as well,” said Mr Handley.

The event, titled Sheedy, Hirdy, and Lloyd, will be at All Seasons Resort Bendigo on Thursday 10 August from 7pm.
