Drive for dignity returns
SHARE the Dignity has launched its biannual dignity drive with the aim of ending period poverty.
Throughout the month of August, pink collection boxes will be available at Woolworths stores where donations of period care products can be dropped off.
Products must be in their original packaging and can be pads, tampons, mensural cups, period undies, reusable pads, and incontinence aids.
The Donations will then be shared with people experiencing homeless and people in domestic violence shelters, as well as other relevant organisations.
As well as the collection effort, five cents from every sale of period products at Woolworths during August will be donated to Share the Dignity to help the organisation provide free products and maintain their period care vending machines.
“We often come across heartbreaking stories, such as a recent incident of a father living in a car with his daughter,” said founder and managing director of Share the Dignity, Rochelle Courtenay.
“His daughter had experienced her first period and unfortunately found himself unable to source the support she needed.
“You never know what someone is going through and, at the very least, let’s ensure they can manage their period with dignity.”
