HEATHCOTE Dementia Alliance has triumphed at the 2024 Future of Ageing Awards.

CareVillas Australia and GreenConnect Dementia Respite Project both secured prestigious accolades.

CVA won the 2024 Property & Design Award and GreenConnect was Highly Commended in the Health & Wellbeing categories.

“These wins underscore HDA’s commitment to revolutionising aged care through leadership in innovative design, technology, and holistic support,” said HDA founder and president Sandra Slatter.

CVA was represented at the inaugural Future of Aging Conference in Darling Harbour by Ms Slatter and board member Janine Gowenloch.

Steering Committee member Ami Heath represented the GreenConnect Project.

“The Insider Ageing Conference and Awards event, brought together industry leaders and innovators,” said Ms Slatter.

“They offered invaluable insights into leadership, innovation, and the future of aged care in Australia.

“HDA’s first accolade was in the Property & Design category for their groundbreaking Smart Care Villa.

“Officially launched in 2023 with the prototype Costerfield House, the pioneering model addresses critical gaps in the aged care system, particularly in dementia care and independent living for individuals with specialised needs.

“This win reflects the visionary efforts from HDA and their sister company CareVillas Australia.

“They have developed equitable and affordable housing solutions designed to meet the needs of individuals requiring assistance to remain within their community.

“The Smart Care Villa, along with the proposed Merbein Community Cluster, and Reflections at Eppalock, exemplifies both HDA and CVA’s mission to create nurturing and inclusive communities where residents can thrive in a safe and supportive environment.”

Ms Slatter said the three-year GreenConnect Dementia Respite pilot project is setting new standards by integrating nature-based activities, experiences, and accommodation within dementia-inclusive environments.

“The project represents a groundbreaking approach to dementia respite care, enhancing the quality of life for people living with dementia and their carers,” she said.

“The success of the GreenConnect Dementia Respite Project is the result of a strong consortium of five committed organisations: La Trobe University, Heathcote Dementia Alliance, Princes Court Ltd, Heathcote Health, and Rural Care Australia.

“HDA along with all partners are working together in shaping a future of aged care that is innovative, inclusive, and connected to nature.

“The dual recognition at the Future of Ageing Awards reinforces HDA’s commitment to advancing dementia care through cutting-edge design, technology, and holistic, community-driven support.”
